Q: Isn’t AI controversial in the music world?
A: Yes, and understandably so. AI is changing the way we create and produce music, which affects many talented people—especially track producers who have long been an essential part of the songwriting process. I deeply respect their work. This workshop isn’t about replacing anyone. It’s about helping songwriters who are limited by budget or access, and providing tools to keep creating and sharing their songs.

Q: Will I still own my demo if I use AI to create it?
A: Yes—as long as you use your own lyrics and melody and don't rely on AI to generate the song itself, you retain ownership of the demo. AI is simply a tool to help bring your song to life faster and more affordably.​

Q: What is copyrightable?

According to the U.S. Copyright office, copyrightable songs must be substantially written and recorded by humans.  Therefore, AI-generated tracks are not copyrightable! They are NOT good for artist releases or sync licensing unless you’re willing to tell the people involved that the recording was generated by AI​.​​

​

Q: What about the rights to the AI-generated demo?

A: Most AI platforms allow you to retain full rights to the demo as long as you’re a paid subscriber. If you're a free subscriber, the platform will own it. Be sure to check the specific terms of the program you’re using.
