About the event
Writing a song in collaboration with others is called co-writing. There's no faster way to bring your songwriting skills up than to co-write.
Just as each of us brings different strengths and abilities, co-writers have different strengths and specializations in the song creation process. One person may be great at song ideas, the other lyrics, another melody. Wonderful! But what if you’re new to this?
It’s no small task to be comfortable co-writing when you are just starting out or don’t get a chance to co-write much.
This talk will focus on how to successfully navigate the cowriting process. How to get prepared to co-write, song blueprinting, how to handle challenging situations, what to do if your “team” gets stuck and how to find co-writers!
Our guide will be Bill O'Hanlon has literally written the book on co-writing, The Songwriter’s Guide to Mastering Co-Writing!
More about Bill O'Hanlon
Bill O’Hanlon has been playing guitar, piano and writing songs for over 50 years. Bill has gotten over 30+ cuts of his songs with independent artists and several sync placements. He writes many different genres of music, from singer-songwriter to country to pop to rock to jazz and even some hip-hop, since his co-writers bring musical influences that aren't his main strengths or interests.
